As we all know, African Swine Fever (ASF) originated in Africa. More than half a century ago, the virus reached Portugal via illegal cargo vessels, then spread rapidly to Spain, Italy, France, and eventually the whole of Europe. In the 1970s and 1980s, ASF raged across Europe with an even worse impact than what China is experiencing today. To this day, Western Europe has completely eradicated African Swine Fever. Therefore, European producers are the most experienced mentors when it comes to ASF prevention and control.

Large-Diameter Conveying Feeding Line: A Powerful ASF Defense Tool Imported from Europe

Due to our work at Deba Brothers, we maintain regular contact with livestock industry peers from Europe and have consulted them repeatedly on ASF prevention strategies. They shared their practical experience openly and thoroughly. Below is a summary of their core anti-epidemic practices:

1. Adopt batch production, small separated housing units and strict all-in/all-out management. This prevents cross-contamination and facilitates thorough disinfection and biosecurity protocols. Staff must complete full disinfection and change protective clothing every time they move between pig barns.

2. Deploy intelligent automated management to minimize human and vehicle access to pig farms. ASF spreads through direct contact, and the virus can survive for an extended period on carriers. Personnel and delivery vehicles represent the biggest pathogen transmission vectors.

3. Establish mutual-aid alliances for pig producers. If one farm is hit by an ASF outbreak, it must transparently share the source of infection and effective control measures with all members. In return, other alliance farms are obligated to provide material and technical support to help the affected farm recover.


Last October, Deba Brothers led a delegation to Germany to attend the EuroTier livestock exhibition, where we held in-depth exchanges with MIAL, a renowned Italian feeding line manufacturer. This was our first introduction to large-diameter intermediate conveying feeding lines, a product that enjoys massive market success across Europe and serves as a core ASF biosecurity tool for European pig farmers. At that time, ASF had just broken out in China, initially confined to the three northeastern provinces yet showing clear signs of nationwide spread. This product immediately captured our attention, and we resolved to introduce it to China to provide domestic pig producers with a reliable solution against ASF.

The system is designed to tackle delivery trucks—the primary vector of pathogen contamination. Traditional feed delivery vehicles travel between numerous farms during routes, creating severe cross-contamination risks. The large-diameter feeding line system installs feed silos outside barn boundaries. Delivery trucks unload feed into these external silos before entering the farm perimeter, and feed is then conveyed uniformly from silos into pig houses. This setup completely eliminates cross-contamination risks brought by external delivery vehicles.

Another standout feature of the system is its oversized conveying pipeline: the outer diameter reaches 102 mm with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm. The entire pipe undergoes hot-dip galvanizing treatment to fully resist rust and corrosion. Equipped with a 3.7 kW disc-chain drive motor, the system delivers a conveying capacity of 4 tons per hour.

A dedicated control cabinet supports simultaneous delivery of multiple feed formulas to silos. Controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), the system realizes fully unmanned computerized operation, cutting labor management costs while enabling precise, scientific and automated feeding workflows. It supports complex cross-floor and cross-barn feed distribution, with adjustable variable frequency power. Feed is transported without impact or residue mixing, guaranteeing clean, intact pellets free from cross-contamination.

Its modular, freely combinable design allows the feeding line to adapt to farm layouts of all shapes and sizes, with a maximum single conveying distance of 500 meters. The large-diameter pipeline delivers fast feed throughput even over long transport ranges. Feel free to contact us!
